East baseball team crushes Austin

— Ryan Totman and Derek Werkmeister each had four hits and scored three runs as Mankato East defeated Austin 17-7 in a Big Nine Conference baseball game.
Dan Larsen had four hits for the Cougars, and Derek Quame and Nick Lotton added two apiece. Quame had four RBIs, and Lotton scored three times.
Dustin Lemke started for East and struck out seven. Totman pitched the final 2 1/3 innings to earn the win.
The No. 12-seeded Cougars (5-15, 5-13 in Big Nine) open the Section 2AAA Tournament Friday at No. 8 Buffalo.
