Rebels win Waseca boys track invite Elmer, teammates prepping for postseason By Chris Jagerson Free Press Staff Writer WASECA — The high school track and field career for United South Central/Alden-Conger senior Jacob Elmer is nearing an end. He knows what it takes to keep running deep into the postseason because he’s done it before.
He just needs to find how to do it again. “Our main goal is to just keep cutting time before sections,” Elmer said. “Hopefully we’ll set some (personal records) and we’ll see where we’re at. We’ve got a chance to make it to state in a couple events.” Monday’s Waseca Invitational was the final tuneup before Thursday’s subsection meet. Although Elmer and his 4x200-meter relay team that included Riley Stenzel, Jordan Haroldson and Bryan Hauge didn’t set any personal records, they clocked the winning time of 1:35.82. “We’ll have ‘it’ sometime,” Elmer said. “But that’s still a pretty good time.” Elmer, who will run at Augustana College next year, was part of the Rebels’ 4x400-meter relay team that took fourth at the state meet a year ago. “We’ve got three of our legs that can run around 52 (seconds) and looking for a fourth,” Rebels coach Kent Viesselman said. “But they’re progressing toward where they need to be to get back.” For complete story, see the Tuesday, May 20, print edition of The Free Press or sign onto our e-edition.
