Jim Dale tossed a four-hit shutout Sunday, enabling the Minnesota State University baseball team to salvage one win in a four-game series against North Central Conference rival Nebraska-Omaha,
After dropping a pair of games at Franklin Rogers Park on Saturday, MSU got back on the winning track behind right-hander Dale’s impressive performance. Dale struck out two and walked one while going the distance in a 4-0 win Sunday afternoon at the MSU Baseball Complex.
UNO came back in the second game of the doubleheader to down Minnesota State 4-2 The split leaves MSU with a 24-21 overall record and a 13-7 mark in the NCC. Both teams will participate in the NCC Tournament later this week in Omaha.
UNO closes out the regular season with a 39-10 mark and a 19-1 record against NCC competition. MSU caps of its regular season tonight with a 7 p.m. game against Bethany Lutheran College at Franklin Rogers Park.
Minnesota State begins NCC Tournament play at 3 p.m. Thursday against the winner of the St. Cloud State-North Dakota game. The game will be played at Seymour Smith Field in Omaha, Neb.
