MANKATO

A Mankato man who has had more than one run-in with police is wanted again for allegedly harassing a county employee to the point where a panic alarm was triggered last week.

A police officer saw Timothy Allen Schepers, 48, standing by the front door of the Blue Earth County Government Center when he responded to the alarm at the county attorney’s office at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Schepers looked intoxicated and had a difficult time communicating, officer Keith Mortensen reported.

Four employees in the county attorney’s office reported Schepers had followed Jessica DuRose, a county social worker, into the office. He was waving his arms and yelling at DuRose about her husband, Matt DuRose, Mankato Police Department detective commander.

Jessica DuRose told Mortensen she is afraid of Schepers and went into the county attorney’s office to avoid him.

A breath test later showed Schepers had a blood-alcohol concentration of .38, nearly five times the .08 legal limit for driving, the criminal complaint said. He was brought to Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment.

Schepers, who is facing a gross misdemeanor harassment charge for the incident Wednesday, has been arrested numerous times for alcohol-related offenses. He was arrested several times last year for calling 911 and babbling about Matt DuRose.

After making 911 calls in April 2007, Schepers was sentenced to 10 days in jail. His sentencing paperwork said, “This is the last chance. No other violations of law, including 911 calls.”

Police records were reviewed by The Free Press last year for a story on county detoxification costs. Those records showed Schepers had been sent to detox treatment on a police hold more than 100 times since 2000.
