A Mankato man who authorities say tried to stab a Blue Earth County Sheriff’s deputy with a pen could face felony assault charges.
Jason Paul Mullen, 26, faces charges of assaulting a police officer, driving while intoxicated, driving after revocation, obstruction of the legal process with force and refusing to submit to blood-alcohol testing.
A Blue Earth County sheriff’s deputy says he spotted Mullen driving erratically in the Glenwood Avenue and Bruels Street area.
Once they had Mullen inside the Blue Earth County Law Enforcement Center, they say he became combative with several officers, and at one point grabbed a pen from Deputy Tim Mohr’s shirt and attempted to stab him.
Mullen was jailed.
