Food burglar charged again

— A man arrested earlier this month for stealing mandarin oranges, then breaking into a Hy-Vee store office to eat the little slices of fruit has allegedly been caught attempting to steal food again.
This time it was hot dogs and Sadi Mohamed Gure, 33, of North Mankato is accused of breaking into a house on West Sixth Street to get them. He was arrested Saturday morning and is facing a felony burglary charge.
A woman called police at 4:45 a.m. Saturday to report she went into her kitchen after hearing a noise and found a man taking four packages of hot dogs out of her freezer. She reported she chased the man out of her house before calling 911.
Gure was found in the area a short time later by officers responding to the call, Mankato police said. He appeared intoxicated and was arrested for first-degree burglary because officers suspect he broke into the house through a crank window.
Gure was arrested Aug. 10, also at 4:45 a.m., after an employee at the downtown Hy-Vee store reported a man was sitting in an office there eating from a can of mandarin oranges. The office was broken into and the oranges, with an estimated value of less than a dollar, appeared to be the only thing stolen, the report said.
Because of his level of intoxication, Gure was sent to a detoxification center, the report said. He has been charged with misdemeanor theft as a result of that incident.
Gure has faced felony charges of robbery, assault and first-degree driving while intoxicated since 2001.
