Deputies are investigating a report of an assault at a party Saturday night, but identifying suspects hasn’t been easy.
The assault, which allegedly took place a short time before midnight Saturday, wasn’t reported by the victim until 3:53 p.m. Sunday.
James Francis Bade, 21, of Mankato called the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Department to report he had been assaulted at a party. The only thing he remembered was having a mixed drink in his hand when he was punched and knocked unconscious.
Bade told a deputy his friends said four men continued to beat him after he was knocked out. Bade’s friends eventually picked him up, put him in a car and took him to a residence at the University Park mobile home park.
After waking up at that residence, Bade said he went to Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital because his shoulder hurt. He found out he had a broken clavicle, a concussion with partial amnesia, a broken nose and facial fractures.
Bade said he didn’t know the people hosting the party and couldn’t tell the deputy where it took place. However, he did say his friends called to report the party after leaving. Dispatch records show a report of a loud party with a fight at 19676 584th Ave., which is southeast of Mankato, at 12:37 a.m. Saturday. The records do not say who owns or resides at the property.
The deputy reported he had a difficult time contacting the friends Bade named as people who said they knew the men who assaulted him. Two of the people the deputy was able to contact gave two different names for suspects. The deputy wasn’t able to find addresses or telephone numbers for either of the names he was given, the report said.
