A Chisago City couple suffered no life-threatening injuries when a motorcycle hit a deer near Thursday evening just west of Mankato, though the passenger fell off and was airlifted to a hospital.

Craig C. Swanberg, 43, was driving northbound on Highway 169 west of the city when a deer ran onto the road and into the motorcycle, the State Patrol said.

Passenger Theresa M. Swanberg, 41, fell off the bike while the driver was attempting to keep it upright. She was flown to Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital with bruises and a possible leg injury.

Craig Swanberg was uninjured.
