MANKATO

A Mankato woman has won the HickoryTech Phone Book cover contest.

The photograph, taken by amateur photographer Jennifer Prochaska, will appear on the cover of the HickoryTech 2009-10 Phone Book. The scenic photograph was taken at Mankato’s Sibley Park.

More than 40 entries were received during this year’s contest, which is open to amateur and professional photographers.

HickoryTech’s Phone Book is distributed to more than 30 communities in southern Minnesota with a distribution of more than 100,000 copies. In addition to the full-size Phone Book, a smaller companion book featuring white and yellow pages will be distributed to residents and businesses.

The HickoryTech Phone Books are available to customers at no charge with delivery occurring this month.

HickoryTech offers Phone Book recycling bins at its main office, 221 East Hickory St. and at Mankato Hy-Vee store parking lots. In addition, HickoryTech will collect old phone books for recycling at the Mankato MoonDogs baseball game July 14. The first 500 attendees at the game will receive a free MoonDogs T-shirt. As a reminder, residents with community curbside recycling may recycle their phone directories through their regular curbside pick-up. Minnesota law requires phone directories to be recycled.
