Student falls, run over

The Free Press

WELLS

A United South Central High School student was injured today after being thrown from the hood of a car and run over.

Wells police officer Eric Neubauer said he couldn’t release the names of the two teen girls involved because they were juveniles. He said one of the girls was giving the other girl a ride on the hood of a smaller sedan at about 3:15 p.m. The driver hit the brakes after traveling about a half block on Fourth Avenue, causing the rider to fall off the front, Neubauer said.

The rider was then completely run over by the car, which was witnessed by several people, Neubauer said. The injured girl, who was conscious when help arrived, was taken to Albert Lea to be treated for back pain, leg injuries and several cuts and scrapes.
