Your View: Vote no on amendment

By Deb Elliot, St. Peter

Responding to the lady who wants Minnesotans to alter our state Constitution instead of living within the means of a budget: Aren’t the state lottery proceeds supposed to help finance environmental issues? If this amendment we’re all supposed to vote for passed, we’ve pretty much permanently changed our state Constitution, at our expense, forever.

Aren’t those state legislators we elect supposed to take on funding this project, just like any other, and not involve our Constitution? Doesn’t anybody live within a budget anymore? Can’t our lakes and parks be preserved without interfering with the Constitution?

Vote “no” to the proposed Constitutional Amendment. If it passes, it will cost us money we cannot afford. That isn’t “unpatriotic;” it’s responsible government!
