Your View: McCain's choice puzzling

By Lucille Thares, Butterfield

Sarah Palin, who is she really?

She is like a Barbie doll, who the Republican party plays with. They are playing house with her All-American appearing family and First Dude husband. They move her about at will and put her and her family on display for excitement and entertainment.

She is a glamorous and beautiful, novel celebrity, who the Republican party is using to get its engine started and running.

How insulting to the honorable and intelligent women of the United States.

When did we lose national pride, human respect and genuine honesty and what happened to just plain, old-fashioned courage along with gentle and noble humility?

She makes a perfect rock star hero type of person for the audience to yell and scream about at huge gatherings, but will she make a respectable, stable and intelligent VP? Can you picture her as president of our country?

Can she be confident without being cocky? Can she respond with mature intelligence and negotiate without negative slammers?

Maureen Dowd wrote in the New York Times: “R.D. Lerno, a retired school principal from Fairbanks, Alaska, says “She is a child, inexperienced and simplistic. It is taking us back to junior high school. She is one of the popular girls, but one of the mean ones.”

John McCain is an intelligent humble and heroic man, courage beyond belief. It is puzzling that he felt the need to choose someone who performs with such drama and hype, but little substance.

As president of the United States, would he make other puzzling choices and decisions?
