Your View: 'Expelled' a propaganda movie

I highly doubt the writer of the recent Your View, “Spiritual implications of debate can’t be ignored” would actually go and look further into the fallacies and misconceptions presented in “Expelled.”

The movie is meant to be preaching to the choir and accomplished its goal above and beyond (apparently). “Expelled” uses Lord Privy Seal editing tactics and is an obvious attempt to propel an ideological agenda in the mainstream media. Anyone who found the film “excellent” and the idea of intelligent design able to be “proven” knows very little about the scientific method, and I’m guessing, has very little interest in learning about it.

What I can’t understand is how one can assume the intelligent designer would be the Christian god? Isn’t it just as likely to be any other religion’s gods, or an unknown deity? If you believe that it’s your god, prove it. The fact of the matter is that you can’t prove it because there is nothing to test in the first place to prove, which leaves it out of the realm of science.

Also, consider the history of science challenging the religious establishment’s beliefs. If we had always accepted their conclusions as fact, we wouldn’t know anything about our natural world. Galileo anyone?

If you want to believe in intelligent design, then that’s fine, but realize that it is a matter of faith and not mistake it with proven truth. Also, don’t get behind a terrible movie that polarizes people on an important issue with propaganda tactics, even if that propaganda is saying what you believe.
