Recently, my date and I attended a wonderful evening of fun and dance at the 2008 West Prom. After a good meal, we pulled up to West to find two vintage cars parked out in front of the entrance, promoting the theme of “Let the Good Times Roll.”
Upon entering the building, we met a scurry of parents helping with selling Grand March tickets, setting up the root-beer-float stands, and putting up the final pieces of crepe paper. We were immediately directed to the cafe where we were met by more parents ready to take coats and purses and hold them for us.
The rest of the night was magical, amidst festive decorations and friendly faces. It was wonderful seeing all the parents, principals, student leaders and staff truly wanting to run a prom that is student-friendly, fun, and safe.
As a member of the junior class at West, I’d like to give a big round of applause and a pat on the back to all the helpful, generous volunteers who made West’s Prom 2008 the success it was.
