Lorraine Theresa Michel, 80, of North Mankato, died at Oak Terrace West Wednesday, December 3, 2008.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato with Rev. Ed Ardolf officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Landkamer Johnson-Boman Funeral Home in Mankato, with a 4 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials are prefered to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or donor’s choice.

Lorraine was born February 9, 1928, to Raymond Frank and Ella (Reid) Griebel in Mankato. She attended Good Counsel Academy. Lorraine was united in marriage to James Joseph Michel on August 5, 1947, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato. She was employed with J.C. Penney for 30 years before retiring, cutting the grand opening ribbons for both Mankato stores. Lorraine was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Women’s Council, Post 11 American Legion Auxiliary, and the North Mankato Old Mud Lake Gang. Lorraine enjoyed time spent with her family and friends, crafts, crocheting, reading, fishing, and meeting new people.

Lorraine is survived by her husband, James J. Michel; three children, Stephen J. Michel and wife, Bonnie of Walker, Jane L. Styndl and husband, Joe, Thomas A. Michel and wife, Gwen all of Mankato; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Paul (Corrine) Michel of Baldwin, MO, Joe (Beverly) Michel of rural Mankato; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bernard “Bernie” Griebel and wife, Roberta “Betty”.
