Myron Bruns, 78, of New Ulm died Sunday, November 16, 2008 at the Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 20, 2008 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday. Myron is survived by his wife, Lila Bruns of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Teri and Francis Sellner of Sleepy Eye, Brenda and Glen Schaefer of Brownton, Pamela and Kevin Schabert of Mankato; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa Bruns, Michael Bruns all of New Ulm; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Ardis Wills of New Ulm, Lois and Ronald Dauffenbach of Grants, New Mexico; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard Bruns of New Ulm, Roger Bruns of Mankato, Gary and Shirley Bruns, Thomas and Ann Bruns all of New Ulm; and a brother-in-law, Marlowe Grau of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Wallace Wills, Harlan Wills; and sisters-in-law, Lois Bruns and Adeline Bruns.
Myron William Bruns was born on December 11, 1929, in New Ulm to Deitrich and Stella (Plagge) Bruns. He attended Courtland Immanuel Lutheran School. On September 17, 1955, he was united in marriage to Lila Grau at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Myron was employed at Kraft Foods in New Ulm for 33 years. He retired in 1988. After retirement he worked at Highland Gardens, Jim Weed Construction, and did shrub trimming on his own. Myron enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier days and loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
