Curtis Jerome Thompson

The Memorial Service for Curtis Jerome Thompson of Minneapolis, formerly of New Richland and Mankato, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, at LeSueur River Lutheran Church, rural New Richland. Pastor Cary Larson will officiate. Interment will be in LeSueur River Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit with family 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland.

Curtis, age 64, passed away October 30, 2009, at his home in Minneapolis, MN. Curt was born June 24, 1945, in Waseca, MN to Henry Orlando and Dorothy (Hagen) Thompson. He was a graduate of New Richland High School and Mankato State University. After graduation, he farmed with his father on the family farm, before moving to Mankato, MN. On January 23, 1971, he married Deanna Mae Radichel of Mankato, MN. Curt opened the family business ‘Thompsons ‘ a high end women’s clothing store in Mankato, MN. Curt was the salesman in town and had most of the ladies looking their best. In 1985 he moved his family to Littleton, CO, to be an entrepreneur in the exciting new computer age of “selling.” It came easy for him because he always had the “gift to gab.” In 1988, he moved his family back to Burnsville, MN to begin a sales career he truly loved — Real Estate. His personal interests include: planting, gardening, bicycling, hunting fishing and family. He truly enjoyed the warm destinations of Florida, Nevada and Mexico. He enjoyed his grandchildren and made them feel important while dealing with physical ailments. Curtis made many friends and long lasting relationships. He was the type of person you could never forget, once you met him.

Curtis is survived by son: Troy (JoAnn) Thompson of Mankato, MN and their children, Jade and Brandon; daughter: Jennifer (Stefan) Eriksson of Savage, MN; mother, Dorothy Thompson of Owatonna, MN.; sisters: Paula (David) Routh of New Richland, MN, Kristi (Steve) Holstad of Albertville, MN; nieces and nephews: Schuyler Routh, Jesse (Krissy) Routh and their children: Brynn, Brock & Avery; Luke Routh, Robyn (Nate) Holmberg and daughter Grace; Jeremy (Brooke) Jacobson and son Charlie; Maren Holstad and Thor Holstad; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his good friend Dan Jarnigen.

Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Henry O. Thompson in 1995.
