Published October 15, 2008 09:59 pm - Marie Elizabeth Vossen, 84, of Arlington, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Oak Terrace Health Care Center of Gaylord.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington.

Marie was born on September 7, 1924, in Cold Spring to Frank and Helen (Schriffles) Theis. She attended Cold Spring Schools. She married Richard J. Vossen on September 9, 1946, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. The couple lived on the U of M St. Paul Campus while Richard attended college. The family moved to Arlington in 1948. Richard J. Vossen was a teacher at the Arlington Green Isle High School. Marie worked full-time as a homemaker and mother of 10 children. She also worked part-time jobs including daycare and as a volunteer in activities in the community. Marie and Richard lived in Hutchinson for 20 years before moving back to Arlington in 2002. She was an active member of St. Anastasia Parish in Hutchinson and St. Mary’s CCW of Arlington.

She is survived by her children; Mike (Suzanne Trebnick) Vossen of West Linn, Oregon; Tom Vossen of Minneapolis, Ruth (Richard) Kozitza of North Mankato, Pat (Kathy) Vossen of Arlington, Marge (Mark) Ryan of Minneapolis, Mary (Corwin) Randleman of St. Francis, Susan (Scott) Conley of Cologne, Carol (Langford) Jordan of Castle Rock, Colorado, John (Jody) Vossen of Kasson. 17 Grandchildren; Josh & Alex Vossen, Madison Gallagher, DeeDra (Steve) Vosburg, Amanda, Nicole & Leo Arevalo, & Lucas Kozitza, Michelle (James) Gomez, Barbara Vossen, Nick & Jake Ryan, Kristy & (Jay) Henderson, Zach & Laura Randleman, Langford Jordan II, Briana & Cory Allen. 7 Great Grandchildren; Samuel & Madelyn, & William Vosburg, Giovanni Arevalo, Julia, Evelyn, & Javier Gomez.
