Published October 13, 2008 09:30 pm - Viola A. Schmidt, age 91 of Waseca, formerly of Janesville, died on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Lake Shore Inn, Waseca, following a lengthy illness.

Viola A. Schmidt, age 91 of Waseca, formerly of Janesville, died on Sunday, October 12, 2008, at Lake Shore Inn, Waseca, following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca with Rev. Neil Westby officiating. Interment will be in the Woodville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville, and will continue on Wednesday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to ISJ Hospice.

Viola Anna was born on May 17, 1917 in Buse Township, Ottertail County, Minnesota to William and Mary (Rust) Neumann. She attended Fergus Falls Dist. #30 country school. On August 31, 1939 Vi was united in marriage to Edward Henry Schmidt at the First Evangelical and Reformed Church in Fergus Falls. Over the years Vi and Ed lived in various communities including Fergus Falls, Crystal, Janesville, and the last seven years in Waseca. While in Crystal, Vi worked in housekeeping at North Memorial Hospital. She was an active mother, homemaker and church volunteer in all of the communities they lived. Currently Vi was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca. Vi and Ed enjoyed their many travels and cruises with friends, and she loved her flowers and embroidery.

She is survived by her husband Edward; by her daughters Donna and Richard Fisher of Rapid City, SD and their two sons John Fisher Clark and his wife Lt Genevieve M. Fisher Clark USN CHC of Lakehurst, NJ and Robert Fisher of Post Falls, ID; Darlene “Duff” and Donald Schuldt of Elysian and their children Tanner Schuldt of Elysian, McKenzie and Jay Mulder of Elysian, Marne Schuldt of Mankato and fiancé Justin Slack of Owatonna and foster son John More of Sioux Falls, SD; by her great-grandchildren Lanaye and Scott Ross of Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, Alexandria Ham of Warrenton, MO, and Peyton Schuldt of St. Louis Park; by her special friends Wayne and Connie Baumgartner of St. Peter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law; by five brothers Arnold and his wife Goldie, Werner and his wife Margaret, Emil, Elmer and Ervin, and by three brothers-in-law.
