Howard F. Almich, age 79, of Le Sueur, died at his home in rural Le Sueur on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, Sept. 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in Le Sueur, with Rev. Ken Ribe officiating. Interment will be in Mound Cemetery, Le Sueur. Visitation will be on Sunday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur from 4-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Monday afternoon. There will also be an 8:00 p.m. prayer service the evening of the visitation led by Fr. George Grafsky. Memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice.
Howard was born on June 25, 1930, to Clarence & Elsie (Maertz) Almich in Montgomery, MN. He moved to the Le Sueur area when he was 2 and attended Le Sueur schools, graduating from Le Sueur High School in 1948. He married Beverly Felmlee on April 21, 1951, at St. Anne’s Church in Le Sueur. He farmed his entire life in Tyrone Township, Le Sueur County. In his late years, he worked seasonally with Green Giant, Westerman Lumber in Le Sueur and did lawn care for Green Giant. He was a life long member of Zion United Church of Christ.
Howard is survived by his wife, Beverly; children; Julie (Peter) Miller of Le Sueur, Rick (Kit) Almich of Le Sueur, Steve Almich of Chippewa Falls, WI , Dave (Julie) Almich of Gaylord, Sue (Tom) Doherty of Le Center, Jean (Ray) Reesen of Apple Valley, Bob (Sara) Almich of Alexandria; 15 grandchildren Sean Mulvaney, Jessica (Chad) Pylka, Maureen (Steve) Thompson, Jeff (Robyn) Miller, Ryan (special friend Rachel) Almich, Jacob Miller, Brian Doherty, Andy Reesen, Erin Doherty, Abby Reesen, Derek Almich, Nick Almich, Zach Almich, Devon Almich, Damon Almich; brother, Walter (LaVonne) Almich of Elk River; sister, Ruth Almich of Le Sueur; brothers-in-law, Jim Felmlee of Le Sueur, Ray (Joyce) Felmlee of Chaska, Don (Mary) Felmlee of Red Wing; sister-in-law, Nancy Katzmarek of Mpls; special cousins, Bette and Janet Vogler of Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.
