Published September 06, 2008 11:48 pm - Gladys R. (Whitehead) Lovett, age 95, of Amboy died Saturday, September 6, 2008, at the United Hospital, Blue Earth.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church in Amboy, with Rev. Mike Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Amboy. Visitation time will be one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Spencer-Owen Funeral Home of Winnebago in charge of arrangements.
She was born Friday, June 13, 1913, in Amboy, MN, the daughter of William & Leila (Day) Benton.
She was a graduate of Amboy High School in 1931. On Aug. 8, 1931 she married Arthur E. Whitehead. They owned and operated Whitehead Electric in Amboy for many years. Gladys played piano and organ at Norman’s Cafe, Parker-Oaks, with several big bands, Presbyterian Church, and for silent movies at the Amboy opera house. Mr. Whitehead preceded her in death in 1990. On July 8, 1995 she married Herbert R. Lovett at Amboy. He preceded her in death in 2007.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Gladys enjoyed fishing, going up north and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her 8 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren, Sister: Thelma Wittman, Escondido, CA.
Several: Nieces & Nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her two sons (Ken & Roger), one grandson (Jeff), three grandchildren in infancy, and one sister. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
