Mayona A. Schultz, age 90, of Le Sueur died on Thursday, September 03, 2009, at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato.

Mayona A. Schultz, age 90, of Le Sueur died on Thursday, September 03, 2009, at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato. She was born on May 18, 1919, in Dryden Township, Sibley County, to John and Annie (Roebeck) Jasken. She graduated from Arlington High School. Mayona married Clinton M. Schultz on November 23, 1937, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington. They lived in New Ulm for a time and moved to Le Sueur in 1946. Mayona assisted her husband in their business, primarily with the Green Giant Company, providing shuttle and transportation services for personnel, equipment and supplies. She enjoyed dancing with her husband at the Kato Ballroom most weekends and also enjoyed spending time in Arizona during the winter. Mayona enjoyed walking, was an excellent cook and a friend to many.
She is survived by her son, David (Sandra) Schultz of Le Sueur; daughters, Priscilla (Dennis) Peterson of Marcell, Sylvia (Pete) Straub of Le Sueur and Mary (Mike) Eastwood of Maple Grove; 1 brother, Merlin Jasken of Arlington; grandchildren, Guy (Melissa) Schultz, Cari Stien, Kai (special friend, Jeana Galantal) Peterson, Tracy (Dean) Bona, Kristy (Brett) Mattys, Chad (Stacy) Straub, Brett (special friend, Hannah Knoblauch) Straub, Bryant (special friend, Julie Freid) Straub, Emily (Jay) Stofferahn, & Mitchell Eastwood; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Elizabeth, Caleb, Caitlin, Brittany, Anna, Jennifer, Nicole, Kennedy, Karragen, Keegan, Koreyann, Carlin, Nicolas, Rachael, Jacob, Samuel, Logan and Noah; 1 great-great-grandson, Elliot.
She was preceded in death by her husband ,in November of 2007; great-grandson, Anthony Bona; sister, Rita Johnson; and brother, Norbert Jasken.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Le Sueur. Interment will be in the St. Anne’s Cemetery in Le Sueur. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. There will be a C.C.W. Rosary at 10:45 a.m. prior to the mass. Kolden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
