Norbert “Nubs” Russell Nelson, age 68, of Blue Earth, MN, died Friday, August 8, 2008, at his home in Blue Earth, MN.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 14, 2008, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Wells, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 13, 2008, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Pastor Paul Woolverton will officiate and burial will be in the Lura Cemetery, Lura Township, Faribault County, MN.

Norbert Russell “Nubs” Nelson was born June 28, 1940, the son of Russell Elliott and Mary (Chaffee) Nelson in Guckeen, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith. He attended school in Winnebago and Blue Earth, graduating in 1958. On June 9, 1962, Norbert was united in marriage to Janet White in Wells, MN. To this union, three daughters were born. The couple later divorced. Norbert had worked at the Security State Bank in Wells and later Telex in Blue Earth, MN.

Nubs enjoyed fishing, golfing, cards and Keno. He enjoyed his family, especially his time with his daughters and grandsons.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Nelson of Wells, MN; three daughters: Kellie Nelson (fiancé Kris Hahn) of Minneapolis, MN, Kristine Noble of Deer Grove, IL, and Kandice Nelson (fiancé Jeff Thygeson) of St. Paul, MN; former son-in-law Dave Noble of Dixon, IL; two grandchildren: Seiler and Elliot Noble of Deer Grove, IL; two brothers James (wife LeAnna) Nelson of Minnesota Lake, MN, and Ronald (wife Susanne) Nelson of Harlingen, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Russell Elliott Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
