Derrick Dean Evans, age 17, of Waterville, died on Saturday, May 9, 2009, on Sabre Lake in Le Sueur County.

Born in Waseca on November 14, 1991, Derrick was the son of Chad and Kris (Grubish) Evans. He was currently a student at Le Center High School. He also worked for Donald Kewatt on his farm near Kilkenny. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was known by his friends and family to have a great smile. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Derrick is survived by his parents, Chad and Kris Evans of Waterville; one brother, Mason Evans of Waterville; his maternal grandparents, Stan and Marilyn Grubish of Waterville; his paternal grandmother, Debbie Evans of Waterville; his paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, David and Joyce Evans of Wells; aunts and uncles, Steve and Karie Grubish of Janesville, and Angela and Rodney Lund of Waseca; three great-grandmothers; and many cousins. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Ashley Bresser of Janesville. He was preceded in death by eight great-grandparents; and one uncle, Bryon Evans.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny with Deacon Dan Wesley officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville.
